At Sticks and Stones Farm, nestled in the heart of Newtown, our community isn’t just growing food — we’re growing generosity. Thanks to the beautiful craftsmanship of our teammate Dave and milled pine from right here on the farm, we’ve built a walk-in cooler that now serves as our Community Fridge, a vital link in our local food rescue network.
This fridge has already become a hub for kindness, fueled by amazing contributions from Newtown Victory Garden, the Newtown High School Greenery Program, and countless home gardeners. If your backyard garden is bursting with extra tomatoes, zucchini, or leafy greens you just can’t keep up with — we’ve got you covered. Simply drop off your surplus produce at the fridge, and we’ll deliver it to one of our 20+ food pantry partners across the region, from Danbury to Bridgeport, within 24 hours.
There’s no appointment needed — just follow a couple simple steps:
- Close and latch the fridge door after use
- Log your donation on the clipboard outside (name, date, and what you dropped off)
Our team is onsite Monday through Friday from 7–11 a.m., which is a great time to stop by, ask questions, or say hello. But if another time works better for you, feel free to visit outside those hours as well.
Every pound of produce you contribute helps us tackle food insecurity across Connecticut and contributes to national data on food waste reduction through our partners at the Association of Gleaning Organizations (AGO).
So this summer, as your garden overflows — think of the fridge. Share what you grow. We’ll take it from there.
