At RFCT, every seed we plant and every harvest we gather helps bring fresh, locally grown produce to those who need it most—and we couldn’t do it without volunteers like you!
We’re excited to announce our spring volunteer hours as we begin planting key crops like carrots, potatoes, onions, and lettuces across our two Newtown farm sites:
🌾 Volunteer Schedule (April–Early May)
- Mondays & Thursdays: Sticks and Stones Farm (171 Huntingtown Rd., Newtown)
- Wednesdays: Catherine Violet Hubbard (CVH) Animal Sanctuary (8 Commerce Rd., Newtown)
- All sessions run from 8:00–10:30 a.m.
As the weather warms, we’ll likely expand our hours—stay tuned for updates!
🧑‍🌾 What to Expect
- Look for Kim Cosar, our Operations Manager, when you arrive.
- Nancy Zychek and Dave Haze are also part of our farm team and often available to assist.
- Bring layers, water, a snack, and be prepared for outdoor garden tasks like mulching, planting, weeding, and raking.
- We have an outhouse on-site, and you’re always welcome to work at your own pace.
All of the food we grow goes to pantries across 17 surrounding towns. This is a true community-powered operation, and your time makes a real difference.
đźšś Coming Soon: Gleaning Opportunities!
Later this spring, we’ll begin our regional gleaning program—rescuing surplus produce from local farms before it goes to waste. These are some of our most impactful (and fun!) volunteer opportunities, and we’d love to have you join us.
Last year, we grew and rescued over 50,000 lbs of food for families in need. In 2025, we’re aiming to double that—and with your help, we’ll get there.
