Real Food CT is excited to bring back its fifth season of its Young Farmer Internship Program!  We currently have several openings for high school and college aged students that are interested in farming, our local food system and community service.

RFCT is a farm and food system organization that runs two small farms in Newtown, CT, the Young Farmer Internship Program and coordinates a farm surplus pickup and delivery program.  Combined, our efforts have donated an average of 30K lbs of fresh produce every year to hunger relief organizations in the region.

Accepted applicants will be expected to:

  • Work with our Farm Team at one of our Newtown farms from 7-10 am Monday through Friday
  • Be open to occasional farm “gleaning” trips to our regional farm partners
  • Feel comfortable getting dirty and handling day to day tasks in the garden like: planting, harvesting, composting and mulching
  • Contribute when we host special events and volunteer group days on the farm
  • Occasionally make trips to donate produce to our hunger relief partners

Beginners are welcome!  We will place a priority on any applicants that come from communities that lack farm internship opportunities.  Please reach out to Executive Director Sean Fitzpatrick at sean@realfoodct.org with a resume to express your interest.
