Let’s Get Our Food Pantries More Fresh, Local Food!
Real Food CT is seeking interns for our 2022 growing and giving season. Help us run our Giving Gardens in Newtown, CT that supplied our area food pantries with over 10K lbs of fresh produce donated in 2021. Learn all the basics of food production, growing in a sustainable and organic setting. We’ll teach you how to prepare soil, plant seeds, start plants, transplant, harvest, and prepare our fruits and vegetables for donation. Here is what to expect for the 2022 season:
- Starting in early June 2022, after school ends
- Four or five days a week, early mornings (15-20 hours per week)
- Contribution at our weekly farmers market once per week
- Education trips to other farms and organizations in CT
- Will run through the end of summer

Real Food CT, Inc is a Newtown, CT based 501(c)3 non-profit organization executing a regional food system model to supply our food pantries with fresh, local produce for our neighbors in need. Between the Giving Gardens and Local Farm Surplus Programs, we donated over 31,000 pounds of fresh food in 2021. Join our efforts to surpass 50,000 pounds donated in 2022!
