We are getting closer to donating fresh produce year-round! We have been approved for a matching grant from Sustainable CT, a non-profit organization that provides support to communities working on social and environmentally conscious projects. This means that every dollar donated to our cause in the month of September will get doubled all the way to $15,000! This will cover the cost of our new greenhouse and season extension equipment for our small farms.
This part of a larger project for the Real Food CT team to complete a Small Farm Model that can be replicated in other communities for year-round support of food pantries. Thanks to the CT Department of Agriculture for the major support. A greenhouse that covers row crops allows us to grow well past the early season frosts and continue to harvest greens and cold weather crops throughout the late fall and winter.
Our communities are feeling the impacts of inflation across the board, and hunger relief organizations need access to healthy food now more than ever.
