We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Emily Sullivan to the Real Food CT team as our new Director of Operations! Emily’s passion for building equitable and sustainable food systems perfectly aligns with our mission, and we’re excited to have her expertise on board.

Emily was born and raised in Salisbury, Connecticut, where her farming, food access, and nonprofit development work began. She was active with the FFA and Envirothon team during high school, a 2013 UCONN Natural Resources Conservation Academy alumni, and went on to study agriculture, economics, law and policy, earning a Bachelor of Science in International Agriculture and Rural Development at Cornell University.

Since graduating college in 2019, Emily has served as a grant writer and agricultural technical assistance provider for several nonprofits in the Berkshire Taconic Hudson Valley region, supporting farm and food initiatives. She will bring all these experiences to her role with RFCT, leading our Food Hub operations– launching a local food marketplace as we speak–and providing core support of the organization’s programs and grants administration.

A Champion for Food Justice

Emily firmly believes that access to fresh, healthy food is a fundamental human right. Recognizing the systemic challenges many face in securing nutritious meals, Emily’s commitment to food justice resonates deeply with our core values.

Building a Stronger Food System Together

Real Food CT is dedicated to connecting local farms with hunger relief organizations, ensuring fresh produce reaches those in need. Emily’s leadership will be instrumental in overseeing the launch of our exciting new initiative – the RFCT Food Hub. This local food sourcing operation aims to bridge the gap in southwest Connecticut by connecting farmers directly with food access organizations, community centers, and emergency food assistance sites.

A Collaborative Spirit

Emily’s enthusiasm for collaboration is evident in her eagerness to work with our partners, community supporters, extensive network of food and farm collaborators, and of course, the people of southwest Connecticut. We believe that collective action is key to making a lasting impact on the lives of others.

Join Us in Welcoming Emily!

Please join us in giving Emily a warm Real Food CT welcome! We are confident that her skills, dedication, and collaborative spirit will be invaluable assets as we work together to nourish our communities and build a stronger food system for everyone.
